A Christmas Poem by Olivia Tannahill (aged 9)

Christmas is a magical time of year,
It brings immense excitement and good cheer,
Children singing carols round the tree,
Oh, how wonderful it can be.

Christmas is the time when young and old rejoice,
To celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ,
Gifts are given out on Christmas day,
Delivered by Santa on his sleigh.

All enjoy Turkey dinner with its trimmings,
After this the 'Figgy Pudding' fills you with much warmth,
Mince pies, chocolates and a glass of wine,
Everyone has had a wonderful time.

The twelve days of Christmas come and go,
And if we're lucky we may even get some snow,
Christmas is a magical time of year,
But before you know it, it's New Year!
