Summer Arrivals
The flowers are here for the summer;
The Hollyhocks, one by one,
Are unpacking their gay little dresses
And hanging them out in the sun.
Big Poppies in scarlet and yellow
Stand tossing their heads in the breeze
While Foxgloves are pointing long fingers
At the Cornflowers, wooing the bees.
The Pansies’ quaint faces uplifted.
Feel the kiss of the dew and the sun,
And Daisies in silver are dancing;
The Wallflowers watching their fun.
The flowers are here for the summer;
As they nod to each wandering breeze
They brighten the warm, dreamy hours
And bring joy to the birds and the bees.
